Are you looking for some specific class information such as home work, class notes and interesting facts?
Homework (different to home/remote learning.) is set by the Stages to consolidate learning that has been done in class as well as promote discussions within the home setting. The sheets are given to your child each Monday and expected to be returned to school on a Friday.
Why is home work optional at ANPS ?
For some children, home work might be playing sport or having music lessons. Only you as a parent will know what is best for your child each week. We know that learning to read and understand what we read will have the biggest impact on a student’s life so we are asking that every child finds some time each night to read or listen to a story. We are leaving it up to parents to decide how many activities their child will complete each week.
This term(3), there is a home work competition to raise the profile of the homework completed at home as well as using the data to identify areas to improve. The competition consists of tracking how many homework/home readers come into school on a Friday and each week, in the newsletter on the following Monday, we’ll announce which class has brought in the most reading records (K-2) and home learning sheets/books (3-6). The winning classes across the term will be treated to a pizza lunch in Week 10.
NB- all wellbeing journals were given out at the beginning of the year, however we understand that these can be misplaced. If you are unable to locate your child's wellbeing journal- complete the other sections of the homework and spend some time doing something that is relaxing for 5 minutes instead. Like a classroom, all of our families are different and some may not have the time to do all of the activities and in turn, some have requested that children have more activities.
Here are few tips that just might help:
* Get into a routine of doing home work at a set time, ideally a little each day.
* Don’t jump in and give answers. Home work is about helping children become independent learners.
* Your child needs to do their own home work. There’s no point handing in work done by anyone other than the student. Teachers need to know what students can do independently – it’s the best way for planning lessons and additional support, if required.
